CUB RV Blind Spot Detector: Step-by-Step Installation Video Guide
- Tape the side of the RV with painters tape to protect it from damage
- Locate a suitable location for the radar where the radar will fit flat against the surface
- The radar can be mounted from 29" to 41" from the ground
- Use the mounting gasket as a template for the radar where you will install it
- Level the radar with the road surface with the RV at its normal ride angle
- Use the gasket as a template. Mark the holes and edges of the gasket to prepare for drilling
- Remove the gasket once your tracing is complete
- Use a 7/32" drill bit for the included 1/4" lag bolts
- Use a 1-1/2" to 2" hole saw for the connector opening
- Remove the painters tape
- Protect the electrical wiring from sharp edges
- Use gaffers tape, duct tape or a grommet to protect the wiring
- Affix the gasket to the RV. Remove the protective sheet from the adhesive
- Line up the holes accordingly; press lightly to adhere
- Carefully feed the wiring through the large hole
- Align the radar to the drilled holes and prepare to install the hardware
- Use suitable hardware to secure the radar to the RV. Take care to not over tighten
- Once the radar is affixed to the RV, use the provided covers to conceal the mounting hardware. Snap them in once properly oriented
- Locate the female connector and connect the cross harness to run the right side of the RV where the radar will be located.
- Locate the male connector and connect the main trailer harness to run to the tongue of the RV
- Repeat the installation steps for the right side radar. Connect your cross harness and secure the wiring
- The tongue quick connect harness will have connections to be made at the electrical junction box
- These are the turn signal and optional reverse leads
- YELLOW - Left Turn Signal
- ORANGE - Right Turn Signal
- BROWN - Reverse Lead
- You may use the supplied wire taps for your convenience
- Connect the tongue harness to the main trailer harness. Secure all of the harnesses
- Bundle the trailer connector and radar connector harnesses adjusting the length as needed
- Prepare the tow vehicle connector and bracket by installing it on the bracket
- Install the connector assembly to the tow vehicle
- Connect the tow vehicle harness to the connector and run it to the firewall of the vehicle
- Secure the tow vehicle harness by using cable ties
- Pass the tow vehicle harness through the firewall. Utilize grommets to protect the wiring. Make your IGN wire connection appropriately
- Locate and connect the OBD-II connector
- Affix the indicator the suction cup by joining the parts together at the slot
- The suction cup can be adjusted at two points
- Place the indicator in a suitable location that does not obstruct our view of driving
- Connect the indicator to the harness and route it to the ECU location
- Route your wiring and make your connections to the Control Unit
- Secure the Control Unit in a location that does not interfere with safe operation of the vehicle
- Connect the original trailer connector and radar connector to the two vehicle
- Start your vehicle and test the system. The indicator should illuminate both icons for 3 seconds
